Winter 2009 Update

Greetings all! I hope this finds you warm and cozy; it's been extraordinarily cold this last week and we're starting to thaw, finally! Laura is currently out on maternity leave so I thought I'd grab this opportunity to contribute a monthly update and let you know about the great things coming our way in the next couple of months.

Our Newest Cooperator

I'd like to welcome Mr. Alastair James Moynihan, our tiniest Cooperator! Our President, Laura Moynihan and her husband Greg welcomed Alastair in November and he is sweet perfection. Laura will remain on maternity leave until at least the end of January so if you need to get in touch, please contact me at 813-1301 or kristina@kitsapfoodcoop.org. Many blessings and our love to the Moynihan family!

2010 Board Elections - Our first ever!

One of the benefits of member-ownership in a food coop is the right to participate in board elections, including nomination to the board. There are multiple open positions on the board for which we are accepting nominations. If you are a member-owner and are interested in joining the board, visit our blog on the website to download an Elections Packet, or email kristina@kitsapfoodcoop.org.

The board is working hard to prepare for an organized, simple and empowering process. If you are a member-owner, please take note of the dates below as you will have opportunities to participate in the process. You will receive more information on how to participate very soon.

Elections Calendar

• January 4 - Deadline for nominations for 2010 election -- All nominations must be turned in.
• January 30 - Campaigning ends
• February 1 - Board Meeting -- Member-owners are invited to join us at this meeting to meet the candidates.
• February 22 - Annual Meeting of Members/Board Meeting - Member-owners and sitting board will elect directors.
• February 28 - Public Meeting/Announce 2010 Board of Directors - 2010 Board will be announced at the public meeting.

Public Meeting - February 28

We are currently looking for donations of items, services, gift certificates, etc. valued at $25+ for our silent auction which will be held at our public meeting on February 28. If you have something you would like to contribute, please contact Lenore Burke at lenoreone@mac.com.

FUNdraiser - Cosmos in Port Orchard

We will have one of our fantastic FUNdraisers at Cosmos in Port Orchard in February. It's a great opportunity for you to enjoy a meal at a locally owned restaurant and support the coop at the same time- a portion of their profits for the day will benefit KCFC. Date TBA.
