Date: September 9th 2009
Hi Folks,
Rob is doing another fruit delivery for our monthly Fruit Fundraisers with him, and I'm attaching his email below. For those of you who are new to the list, Rob gets great deals on boxes of organic fruit, and everyone who tells him they are ordering from the co-op will have 15% of their sale go straight to us! Take advantage of the harvest season and all your canning and drying by ordering pears, apples, peaches and nectarines now. Deadlines are in the email below.
And don't forget about our Public Meeting on Monday the 14th -- come join us at the Seaside Church in Bremerton for food, fun, and a chance to purchase our very first memberships! Go to www.kitsapfoodcoop.org for more details.
Cooperatively,

Greetings folks-
Thank you all for participating in the abundance of peaches, nectarines and pears in August! This email is somewhat packed with details so please make sure to read closely.
We are preparing to head out to Tonnemakers Farm on Sunday September 27th for our first apple packing of the season. There is a good list of fruits available for this delivery and the new order form is being posted on the website.
For the next two months we will continue to be blessed with the abundance of the fresh season foods. If you are planning your freezing, canning, drying and such now is the time to participate. At the end of October or beginning of November we will get non A grade apples for saucing and pressing. We will continue once or twice each month through February with apples (several grades and varieties), DAnjou pears and Asian pears.
Now, the details for September!
We will get about 200 lbs of late season free stone peaches and nectarines. These are available on a first emailed first served basis.
This week and early next week farmer Kole is picking Bosc Pears, Early Asian Pears and a wonderful Golden Apple. In order to secure some of these we need to let Kole know our order size by September 13th. (Sorry for the short notice). So I need to know from everyone by September 12th for these items. The Golden Apple is a Golden Delicious. Kole does not tell anyone this because of peoples thoughts that they are not a good apple. So he sells them as apples. When people swoon over them and ask the variety, he says Golden Delicious and they dont believe him. I ate some and canned some last year and wish I had another 100# of them. They are crisp and good.
The other fruit available on this delivery can be ordered up until September 24th.
Winter squash is coming available. Order squash by the number of squashes you want and we will figure the pricing.
If you have questions or need clarifications please let me know. Please visit our ordering page for details.
Kind regards and great thanks,
Rob
